Patient Information
74 year old patient with a history of advanced skin cancer of the nose. Because of the advanced stage of the cancer and the location of the lesion a combined approach with a dermatological mohs surgeon was taken. The Mohs surgeon removed the cancer which involved the skin, and cartilage of the nose. After confirming that the cancer was removed a combined staged approach was used to reconstruct the nose. Cartilage from the ear was used to repair the nose during normal breathing. While the lost skin was reconstructed by using a procedure where the skin from the forehead was moved from the forehead and temporarily placed on the nose; after waiting some time that operation is completed by placing the tissue taken from the forehead back to where it came from. After this was completed he underwent a prolonged course of radiation treatment. He is shown eight months after completion of the reconstruction.
