Patient Information
61 year old diabetic patient with kidney failure, problems with her circulation and had two jobs when she came in with an infection of her left thumb. The patient required multiple surgical procedures to get the wound free of infection for eventual wound closure. Given her medical history of diabetes, kidney failure, and poor circulation patient chose to have the least risky operation where her thumb is temporarily sewn to her abdominal tissue for two weeks and then detached. She is shown six weeks after her thumb was separated from her abdominal region. She has returned to work.
